Ok Guys and Gals here goes. This Is the method I have been using to get paid on PROPERTY Damage Liability for removal of vehicles involved in accidents with only liability ins.coverage.

1. When arrive on scene document situation well with LOTS of PICS. Including equipment and personnel on scene from start to finish.

2. USE the proper equipment DO NOT work harder work SMARTER cause you can bill for it.

3. Remove the vehicle and any tree's or brush that have been damaged in the accident. ( Check with local D.O.T. about cutting Knocked over or damaged tree's before doing so.)
Rake the scene clean all popcorn glass etc. Grass seed and hay if you have to. (erosion control)

4. Clean the scene up make it look like or better than when the accident happened.

5. Detail the bill on computer Spreadsheet works great list all equip personnel and anything used in recovery explain the bill in detail.

6. Obtain ins co. info from accident report. Contact Ins. co.

7. Now this is where it gets interesting DO NOT TELL THEM YOU TOWED THE CAR !!!!!! You are a RECOVERY CO. you REMOVED the Vehicle and the Public Hazard.
We cannot leave tree's and debris on the side of th rd. Our contract with the PD states we have to clean up scene this includes debris from anything damaged in the accident so we need to get paid for it. When the PD calls an ambulance they use the equip. needed for the task at hand they PAY the ems services for their service and the equip. they need so why should we as professionals not get paid for what we need to do our job properly. Let them pay for our Equip. Rotaters dump trucks skid steers ER trailers Etc. This is what we need to do our job so let them supply it for us. Do not take NO for answer. Ins. co. charge our customers a premuim for their coverage PROPERTY damage is included in a liability policy this is what we are collecting on. The Vehicle cannot be left on the side of the rd. it is a public hazard and is damaging the property you cant throw trash on the side of the rd without getting a littering ticket so why should the ins. co. be able to leave a vehicle and debris on the side of the rd. There is no property in ths U.S.A. that is not owned by someone whether it be an individual or State right of way. If we dont clean it up someone will. Explain this to the ins. co. and you will usually get paid without problems.
