I got several questions about this wreck and the product. (yes I know they mistated the quanity or weight of the product) but it brings up an interesting point.

With Price Per Pound, you have the hazardous materials surcharges and as such do you think that the rates should reflect new surcharges for "Pesticides and Medical Waste".

It is something that I have been working on and checking out the possibility of including this in the newest Price Per Pound rate sheets which I am working on. (Yes this subject is also discussed in the training manual) (and yes I'm working on getting it printed)

Check out the articles and see what you think,  is it a Price Per Pound billable call, and should this "RISK" have charges for it.

Pesticide-laden semi truck smashes into I-35 barricade

A Saturday night truck crash in Lorena snarled Interstate 35 traffic for hours and raised fears of a toxic spill.

A southbound 2009 Freightliner 18-wheeler carrying nearly 43,000 pounds of orthophosphate pesticide crashed into a concrete wall near Exit 319 around 9:25 p.m., a Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman said.

The tractor of the rig was destroyed, but the driver, Russell Jones of Cleveland, Tenn., suffered only a minor cut on the leg, officials said.

An environmental contractor worked to clean up diesel spilled into a nearby ditch, while the Lorena and Waco Fire departments and state environmental officials rushed to discover whether barrels of the pesticide had spilled. They discovered that the barrels had not ruptured.

The load was on its way from Michigan to Santiago Tetla, in southern Mexico.

The accident blocked the outside southbound lane of I-35 and the service road until past midnight, a DPS spokesman said.
