Vehicle Crash, Vehicle In The Woods, No One Around Viewed: 4221 Posted by: Ryan Brunson Date: Feb 17 2010 5:35 AM Houston County Deputies placed a BOLO for a suspicious circumstance of a black Acura chasing a black wrecker around the mid hours of the morning. Deputies responded to the call finding nothing. Around 5 a.m. the person of the black Acura reports that the wrecker has been wrecked into the woods at Willie Varnum and State Line Road. When units arrive they can not find the driver of the wrecker. Alabama State Troopers are on scene along with Cottonwood Fire. Press Release Viewed: 2197 Posted by: JSKeppy Date: Feb 18 2010 2:58 PM On February 17, 2010 Charles Jackson Osburne a 49 year old male of Dothan, Al. who was employed by a local auto recovery company was observed in the early morning hours attempting to take a vehicle from a residence located on Woodall Rd. (Willow Hill Trailer Park). The owner of the vehicle went to find out what was going on with his property when Charles Jackson Osburne fled south on Willie Varnum Rd. and wrecked his vehicle at the dead end of Willie Varnum Rd. and State Line Rd. and then fled on foot into the wooded area at the dead end of Willie Varnum Rd. and State Line Rd. Charles Jackson Osburne was observed later at approximately 9:00a.m. on State Line Rd. and transported to a local hospital by Cottonwood rescue, due to a laceration on his forehead, where he was treated and released. The Houston County Sheriff's Office questioned Charles Jackson Osburne after his release from the hospital and recovered evidence from Charles Jackson Osburne that led to the recovery of four stolen vehicles form the Houston County area: (1)1995 Chevy S-10, taken from Twitchell Rd. on January 22, 2010 (2) 1992 Nissan Centra, taken from E. Saunders Rd. on January 22, 2010 (3) Ford LTD, taken from Hwy 52 E. on February 16, 2010 (4) 1998 Jeep Cherokee, taken from Wiregrass Dr. on February 21, 2010 also recovered was an additional vehicle taken from Donalsonville, Ga. a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am., that was turned over to Donalsonville Police Department The Houston County Sheriff's Office investigation also showed that Charles Jackson Osburne had been taking vehicles to Geneva County to a scrap yard and selling as scrap. Charles Jackson Osburne was charged with 4 counts of Theft of Property 1st and is being held in the Houston County Jail on a total of $20,000.00 bond $5,000.00 for each count.
