This was presented at the 2002 TRAA legislative conference where Stormin Norman Horton (creator of Price Per Pound) presented a seminar on Price Per Pound billing. This format on doing a "recovery report, invoice narrative" has worked for us for many years and jobs. It really helps get the information across on what you did and why you are billing the amount you are. Yes you can even do this for hourly jobs along with Price Per Pound billing...

Towing and Recovery Report

Date of Incident Tuesday, April 12, 2002

Location I-84 East, Exit 63 Off Ramp, Crashtown, USA

Description of Incident Driver was traveling east on I-84 and exited at Exit #63. Upon exiting, the vehicle rolled over onto its side striking a tractor-trailer that was parked at the traffic light and pushing it into several vehicles. The impact was so severe, it caused heavy damage to both the box of the truck and the intermodal container on the tractor unit. The straight truck came to rest about 12" off the ground with approximately 20% of the load spilled out and wedged under the trailer.

Recovery Description Upon receiving the call for an overturned box truck and ramp closure we

immediately dispatched the requested equipment and a Supervisor to the

scene. When the Supervisor arrived, he found the above-described incident and met with the scene commanders, IN order to gain access to the overturned unit and the load, the tractor- trailer had to be winched and lifted away from the box truck. To minimize damage to the truck cab and load, air cushions were placed under the box truck so when the tractor was lifted away, no further damage could be done with the unit crashing to the ground. Once the two were separated and the cars were removed, access to the load was gained thought the damaged roof. At the supervision of the Department of Consumer Protection, portions of the load were deemed salvageable were removed and places into an awaiting refrigerated box truck on scene.

After enough of the upset load was removed to gain access to the truck, we up-righted the unit partially loaded with air cushions and our 45-ton Heavy Duty wrecker. Once upright, we secured the box sides and roof for transport and towed the unit to our yard. The damaged freight was condemned by the Department of Consumer Protection and places into an awaiting dumpster on the scene, Once back at the yard, the load was completely sorted and good freight was put into our box truck and the bad into the dumpster container. All condemned freight will be burned at an incinerator with state supervision on Monday, 4/16/01 due to the holiday. The trucks were then cleaned and equipment stowed back to its original condition at our faculty.
