Oh what a subject to discuss this time, Customers who complain about our tow bills.

Anyone had any of these kinds of customers???

Well I just got off the phone at the office this morning after dealing with a trucking company who is mad
because we charged them for "services which were not needed or quoted in the original phone call"

I know we all can relate to this subject, but I want to fill you in a bit with what happened. First of all its

just went through this again, but this time with a tow on a 1998 Vanhool bus (IFS front end and pull 2 painted in axles)...

Charged the hourly rate that we charge for "OUR REGULAR ACCOUNT" bus company (their competation) and of course this one came unglued at the price. Course we had towed another one of their buses a few months ago (Landolled it) for 100 miles and charged less then I did for a "TOW TRUCK TOW" of 30+ miles...

So again, the wonderful boss caved into the customer and cut the prices. Now he expects me to take a reduced pay for the tow (after I was paid for it)

I have seen what you are talking about before and you are right.

TOO many companies want to play "lets make a deal" on tow bills, and to try and blame us for the added issues of things like pulling drivelines and such when doing calls.
We did not build the truck and we were damn sure not driving them when it died. We just bring them to the repair shop as told to..And I got to say that your boss is "Dollar Store" pricing on his tows... Way to cheap

oh I know that hourly is fair and its the best system as you can not dispute the times involved and they take into account problems with drivelines and axles
and such...

This customer is one that if you say the sky is blue at midnight it better be or they will fight all day and night over it.

Oh the next day after about 5 hrs of phone tag and such, we got paid the rate which the boss had cut it down to. Me, I charged the boss the full rate for my
commission and let him deal with the difference if he wants to. I did the job the way that I was told to, and he wants to give a break then he can take the
difference in his part.

I am not making enough to buy a transmission be it a manual or an auto.

How is hourly not fair Richard? Thats been the structure we have used for several years, and its fair to my bottom line, the type of customers that complain,
will continue to complain regardless of the price structure.

Confusing and try to keep up with 2 different invoices.

I have been pushing for hourly across the board, but he does not think it will be "FAIR" to our customers.
