We were Called by the T.H.P. to Impound one of their T/T's Today due to the Driver being arrested for a Weapons Charge & They also put the Trailer out
of Service for (2) Rt. Rear Trailer Tires being bad. We Towed the Tractor in and Pulled the Trailer in with our Tractor. The Company Called and Gave
authorization to Repair what ever the Trailer Needed to Get it back on the Road Legally as to what put it out of Service by the Highway Patrol. When it came
time to Back the Trailer into the Shop to replace the Two Tires - The Rt. Rear Brakes wouldn't Release & you could hear Air Bypassing in the
Trailer's Air Tanks. I advised the Driver of this ( After he got Bailed out of Jail ) and he said it takes him @ 5 min. for his tractor to get the Brakes
Released & for the Air to build back up. He call's his Company and they call us back Complaining that they WILL NOT Pay for anything
other than the Tires - If we Do Any Repairs to the Trailer Brakes...

D&D Drive Away / Canal Insurance

D&D Drive Away was passing through our town on I-85. They had a tandem curtain side box with an F-450 in the box while towing another tandem box truck with
some jacked up home-made tow bar. The language barrier prevents us from knowing exactly what happened. In a nutshell they hit the brakes, couldn't stop.
The front truck broke away from the back truck, flipped over the guardrail and landed on its side with the F-450 hanging out the side of the box. The rear
truck jumped the end of the guardrail and "surfed" it for about 100' before stopping just inches before a CSX bridge.

D&D is insured by Canal Insurance. Canal is denying the claim based on the fact that they had the wrong drive away tags on the wrong trucks. That's
correct, the tags were current, they had drive away insurance on them but Canal claims the tags "were used improperly". We have requested a written
letter of denial twice from Canal and they refuse to provide one....

OOIDA swoops in on Ledar Transport, seizes assets from KC carrier

In December, 2004, OOIDA was granted a complete victory in its class action suit against Ledar Transport and its subsidiary, Hawthorn Leasing.

The case centered on numerous violations of the federal truth-in-leasing regulations and failure to include certain required provisions in their lease
agreements. Of particular importance in the case was that the claims were not only against two companies, but also against the companies' three corporate
officers, Carl, Norma and Scott Higgs.

OOIDA argued that because of the way the Higgses both dominated and ignored the corporate structure legal requirements, and worked together to do so, the
three were individually liable for Ledar's violations of the truth-in-leasing regulations.

In one of the most important decisions OOIDA has obtained in its pursuit of unscrupulous...
