Piece of WTC tower stops in Coweta
By Sarah Fay Campbell

The Times-Herald
A piece of history, with a full guard of honor, passed through Coweta County Tuesday, and many Cowetans got to put their mark on it.
A two-ton steel beam from the north tower of the World Trade Center was escorted into the Pilot Travel Center south of Newnan Tuesday by current and retired
members of the New York Fire Department and by more than 200 motorcyclists.
The brief stop was the last on the Iron and Steel Run before it ends at Fort Benning near Columbus, Ga., where the beam will be placed outside the National
Infantry Museum. A similar beam was presented to the U.S. Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune.

After a long history of complaints, Able Towing was shut down by a judge in June.

But in July, Metro inspectors spotted Able's trucks twice with cars hooked up to the wreckers.
Able Towing owner Mark Wayman has two civil suits pending against him from customers who say his business was operating illegally, and Metro revoked his
license this year after learning his stepdaughter was authorizing tows of cars he was taking without permission.
Metro alleges that Wayman was continuing a long history of questionable behavior by disregarding the judge's orders to stop towing cars in Nashville, and
has asked that he be found in contempt.
But on Friday the judge disagreed, saying Wayman "barely" passed her test of whether he was willfully going against her order.

It was another chapter in the drama between Able Towing and the Metro Transportation Licensing Commission, where complaints have been coming in for years that
the company was...

The Niagara County Sheriff's Department is investigating a morning accident that left a tow truck in a pool.

According to the Sheriff's Department, the tow truck rear ended a car that was turning left off off Tonawanda Creek Road onto Littlewood Road.
Investigators say the tow truck was driving at a high speed, and did not attempt to stop.

When it hit the car, a few of the cars attached to the tow truck released and were sent into a nearby house. The tow truck finally stopped in an inground
pool.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff's department, the woman driving the car and the tow truck were taken to ECMC. A child in the car was taken to
Women and Children's Hospital.

The Sheriff's department has no word on the extent of the injuries.
Niagara County Sheriff
